The coastguard helicopter was spotted off the beach at Hastings at around 11.20am.

A spokesman for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said the coastguard was asked to send its search and rescue helicopter from Lydd in order to assist the police during the incident yesterday morning.

Bexhill Coastguard Rescue Team, Hastings RNLI’s inshore lifeboat and Pett Level Independent Rescue Boat also attended.

This morning (Friday, June 26), a spokesman for Sussex Police said: “There was a missing person report for a boy yesterday morning - one of six separate cases - for whom there was a search but he had returned home by 12.30pm.”
