Charities, community groups and businesses across Sussex have been organising collections and fund-raising to help the people of Ukraine in the wake of the country’s invasion by Russian forces.

Children on the Edge, with headquarters in East Street, worked for decades in Moldova and Romania between 1990-2012, where now tens of thousands of refugees have been crossing the borders from Ukraine.

Brighton area - Brighton comedian Stephen Grant has announced that all profits from this week’s Forge Comedy Club at Ironworks Studios will be donated to the International Rescue Committee towards the vital work they are doing on the ground in Ukraine in the face of the Russian invasion.

And a 9-year-old Brighton girl has already raised more than £2,000 for children in Ukraine after organising a sponsored bike ride.

Worthing area - A German family has pledged to raise funds for Ukrainian refugees after being inspired by a message of love sent by a couple in Worthing.
