Watch father and son capture ‘rare’ dolphin footage off of Eastbourne coast

Dad Simon Peasgood, owner of Eastbourne Fresh Local Fish, and son Oscar were out on their boat the Rebecca Belle in mid-April time when they saw the dolphins.

They said, “Our initial reaction was how beautiful they were and how lucky we were to see them. It can be very rare, especially them being that close to the boat.”

Research and sightings coordinator at the Brighton Dolphin Project Thea Taylor said, “This is another great sighting from the fishing community in Eastbourne, who are an excellent source of data for us.

“We thank them for sharing the video, which appears to show a pod of Bottlenose Dolphins.

“We also had numerous sightings of a pod of what we believe were Bottlenose Dolphins in Worthing and Brighton over the weekend (May 9 and 10), so it’s a great time to see these amazing cetaceans.

“We welcome any sightings, pictures or videos at the Brighton Dolphin Project to add to our research and raise awareness of the variety of marine mammals in Sussex waters.”
