The Clap For Carers, which is held at 8pm each Thursday, is an opportunity for people to thank those working incredibly hard to save lives during the coronavirus pandemic.

On Thursday (April 16), Hastings Police said: "Officers from Hastings and Rother giving thanks to the staff at the Conquest Hospital tonight.

"So many people working incredibly hard to save lives."

Thousands of residents across the area also took part, standing in front gardens and balconies.

This week's Clap For Carers came shortly after Dominic Raab, who has been deputising for Prime Minister Boris Johnson, announced the lockdown measures in the UK will stay in place for at least another three weeks.
