West Sussex mums help set up Be Kind gifting group on Facebook

Mums from across the country, including two from West Sussex, have set up a gifting group on Facebook to put some smiles back on people’s faces.

Sam Brown from Worthing, Gemma Javes from Crawley and two other friends launched the private group Be Kind and Wishes Come True last week and have so far welcomed more than 160 members.

Sam said: “Given the current situation with this awful pandemic, we decided we wanted to put some smiles back on people’s faces and come together as a community.

“The idea of our group is a pretty simple one but very effective. Everybody has a wish list of small items they would like but, for whatever reason, haven’t got round to doing it.

“We basically gift items from their Amazon wish list and in return, we ask them to return the generosity by gifting other members of the group and what we call ‘spreading the love’.

“We also hold little and big raffles. Our goal is to make people happy and to give them some positivity in these dark times.”

The group was set up by Sam and Gemma with Hayley Baldwin from Wales and Cara Jade from Hull, who are all mums.

Sam added: “People send gifts via Amazon, so it’s safe and no addresses are given out, just to put smiles on people’s faces in this hard time.”

Profits made from the raffles are being donated to a different chosen charity each month, starting with The UK Sepsis Trust for April.
