Kath was born in Whitehaven, Cumbria on September 7, 1920.

She spent 50 years as an accountant, mainly for the Civil Service in London, and received the Companion of the Imperial Service Order (ISO) from the Queen when she retired – her citation described her as ‘a lady who is a ball of fire’.

Kath spent many happy weekends in her caravan in Bracklesham, and moved there after she retired.

She has been happily married three times, but sadly her third husband, George, died recently.

Kath has one daughter, Delia, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She said her secret to her long life is ‘love, happiness and a glass of Merlot’.

Kath lives in Healthfield Care Home, where a tea party was organised to celebrate her centenary.

Despite the necessary restrictions imposed by the pandemic, Kath had a marvellous celebration with those who love and care for her.
