The 32-year-old had originally signed up to take part in the Worthing Race for Life 5k, but organisers Cancer Research UK were forced to cancel all 400 mass participation events in 2020 to protect the country’s health during the COVID-19 outbreak.

The charity is expecting a £160million drop in income in the year ahead and has had to make a £44million cut to life-saving research funding already in 2020.

As the rearranged Worthing 5k was due to take place on Sunday (September 27), Cat decided to stick to the schedule and do hers that day.

Cat did the 5k in memory of her grandad and aunt, who both sadly died from cancer in 1990 and 2013, respectively, as well as Jason’s nan, who passed away earlier this year.

She has raised £1,238.68 in total, including gift aid, to help the fight against cancer.
