What's in this week's Brighton Indy newspaper – bin strikes, Brighton Half Marathon, animal rehoming, nostalgia, recipes and your 12-page Albion pull-out

It has been a busy week in Brighton and Hove and your latest copy of The Brighton Indy is packed with a whole host of stories and features.

Of course, the bin strikes have been grabbing everyone's attention, not least because of the piles of rubbish stacking up across the city. An urgent six-hour meeting held this week was not without controversy but the city council's leader said councillors had agreed a way forward and he was hopeful the unions would accept a revised offer and suspend the strikes.

There has been plenty of other things to smile about in the news this week. The Brighton Half Marathon returned, Brighton's first vegan fish and chip shop opened and a dog stolen in Northampton was reunited with its owners thanks to RSPCA Brighton.

We also spoke to a dad-of-two who is bracing the cold and going for a swim – wearing nothing but gloves and socks –every day until the New Year in aid of the RNLI.
