Woman accuses Crawley driver of breaking social distancing rules by pulling up in car too close to her

A woman threatened to call the police on a Crawley driver for breaking social distancing rules after he pulled up next to her car at some traffic lights.

Owen Smith-Carretero filmed the bizarre encounter, which happened in Three Bridges, in a video which has gone viral on TikTok – clocking up more than 2 million views.

The 21-year-old parking attendant said: “As soon as I pulled up I noticed her waving her hands.

“She kept pointing her middle finger at me out of the window.”

Owen said he pulled up alongside her in a side street where the woman claimed he had broken social distancing rules – despite both parties being in their cars.

He added: “She started going ‘you’re meant to keep two metres apart’. I was so baffled.”

Owen said he started recording the incident as the woman threatened to phone the police but ‘kept his cool’ throughout.

He added: “I was literally taken aback by it. She started to call the police. It’s wasting police time.”

In the video, the woman can be heard saying ‘you’re meant to keep two metres apart because the virus is going on at the moment’.

Owen said he feels sorry for the woman in the video. But he added: “She can’t be waving her middle finger out of the car like that.”
