The 12-metre artwork, which has been designed and produced by Ben Cavanagh, is set to be unveiled in Norfolk Street later in the week.

Ben has been busy working on the project at 11 York Road.

The work is being funded through the Bognor Regis Business Improvement District’s 2020 Welcoming Town budget, while materials have been donated by Covers.

BID Chairman, Jason Passingham said: “Bognor Regis is known for being Britain’s sunniest town, but we know that doesn’t always shine through in the appearance of the town centre!

“We’re thrilled to be working with Ben – a local artist who’s passionate about seeing art brought into the public realm for everyone to experience and enjoy.

“He’s done a fantastic job with this design – incorporating elements of the sunshine and natural beauty of Bognor Regis in his use of shapes, colours and symbols, and he’s completely achieved the BID’s aim of attracting people into the Heritage Quarter, with funky arrows drawing them in and towards the range of fabulous independent businesses there.”

Paul Allwright, Depot Manager for Covers Bognor Regis, said: “Covers has a strong record of supporting improvement projects within the community, and when we were approached by the BID, we saw the art installation as a great way for us to get involved in a proactive way to help brighten up Bognor Regis for the community.”

BID Co-Ordinator Heather Allen added: ”This is a project the BID Team have been working towards for a long time, and we couldn’t be happier to see it nearing delivery.

“The foul weather predicted for this week threatened the installation plans, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone that’s helped with emergency support.

“It’s so important to recognise that these projects aren’t delivered by one organisation working in isolation – this project, for example, had no chance of getting off the ground if it hadn’t been for the businesses contributing funds to the BID Levy, Cassino giving permission to use their property, Covers’ extremely generous contribution with the boards needed, Arun District Council’s support with emergency accommodation and Falcon’s flexibility when the timeline had to keep shifting.

“It’s a perfect example of how, when people, businesses and organisations work together with a shared vision for making things better, we achieve so much more for Bognor Regis than when we try to go it alone.”
