Worthing firefighters joined the public last night in clapping for NHS fundraising hero Captain Sir Tom Moore.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson encouraged members of the public to clap for Capt Sir Tom at 6pm on Wednesday (February 3).

He said the clap would also be for ‘all those health workers for whom he raised money’.

Capt Sir Tom won the hearts of the nation when he walked 100 laps of his garden in Marston Moretaine near Bedford to raise money for the NHS.

The 100-year-old sadly died with coronavirus on Tuesday (February 3).

His family said due to other medication he was receiving for pneumonia, he was unable to receive the Covid-19 vaccine.

Capt Sir Tom initially set out to raise £1,000 for the NHS, but ended up raising an incredible £32,794,701.

He was knighted by the Queen in July.
