An independent school has been given approval for new premises from Worthing Borough Council.

Worthing-based Educate U, a specialist independent school that deals with children with complex needs, gained approval from the council for a change of use of 19 Liverpool Gardens, Worthing, from commercial to an independent school.

The new premises will be used for speech and language and occupational therapy for young people attending the main site, at 58 Chapel Road, Worthing, which opened in December 2019.

Educate U caters for some 40 children aged between six and 16 years, all of whom are under a special education needs or education, health and care plan.

In the plans, the school said the new campus would be part of provision students are entitled to through their EHC plans. The staff for the site will include a speech and language therapist, occupational therapist, receptionist, exams officer, and a special education needs coordinator (SENCO).
