Worthing power cuts: Homes lose electricity in sweeping blackout

Homes across Worthing were left without power last night (February 18) into the early hours of this morning.

A blackout starting at around 11pm hit eight postcode areas, including residents in Heene, Tarring, Offington, East Worthing and even as far north as Findon.

According to UK Power Networks, it was caused by an underground electricity cable faulting on the high voltage network, causing an ‘area-wide power cut’.

Homes began getting their power back shortly after midnight, but some in the east of Worthing had to wait until almost 3am to get up and running.
