Your Hastings and Rye Observer is in shops now

In this week’s edition you can find a special report containing a full list and details of every candidate standing in this year’s local elections vying for your vote.

In Hastings voters will be electing councillors to represent them at Hastings Borough Council and East Sussex County Council, while in Rye voters will be electing councillors to the county council, and some will vote in a Rother District Council by-election.

In other news in today’s paper a woman from Hastings is calling on the council to give wheelchair users and other people with disabilities access to our beaches.

Business leaders have also given their reaction as the town comes back to life following an easing on Covid restrictions last week. People are being encouraged to shop locally and you can read how the first week went for traders in today’s Observer.

And in other news, Sussex Police has called for a bar in Hastings town centre to have its opening hours cut due to ‘a total and wilful disregard’ for licensing law. The full story is in this week’s paper.
