People's voice cries out for new hospital

THE need for a new hospital in the Pease Pottage area was highlighted when thousands of petition forms were handed over.

The joint chairmen of the Campaign for Pease Pottage Hospital '“ MP Francis Maude and county council leader Henry Smith '“ presented them to Sir Graeme Catto, who was appointed by West Sussex Primary Care Trust to chair a review of health services in the north of the county.

The Horsham MP said: "Despite establishing and paying for this costly review, the PCT continues to state that there is absolutely no need for a new acute hospital for the Horsham and Crawley area, but ask anyone on the street and they'll tell you otherwise.

"Local people were furious that the PCT specifically excluded the possibility of a new hospital before the review had even begun and that's why they filled in the forms in their thousands."
