Petrol station robber brandished metal pole

A HOODED man brandished a metal pole in a petrol station raid.

The robber struck at Star Fuels, South Coast Road, Peacehaven, at 3.10am on Saturday.

One member of staff was on duty at the time.

He was forced to hand over cash from the till.

The robber put the money in a carrier bag and fled on foot.

Michelle Tucknott, manager, said the cashier was shocked. 'The lad has not been working here that long.

'He was quite shocked.

'The man came in with a metal pole.

'We have got CCTV of it but he had his hood up and his hand over his face.'

No-one was injured.

A police spokesman said: 'Police are currently conducting enquiries with a view to tracing the offender.'

The robber was described as white, of medium build and aged 16 -21.

He wore a light hoodie with a cap under the hood and a dark jacket.
