Pets charity shop re-opens

A SHOP which helps needy people get free vet treatment for their sick and injured pets is back in business.

Mayor Phil Scott officially sent the PDSA charity shop back into action again after the shop at London Road had been closed for refurbishment.

Cllr Scott said: "I know how important PDSA's fund-raising activities are and therefore I'm delighted to be re-opening PDSA's St Leonards shop."

The shop features a wide range of quality goods and is always on the lookout for donations of clothing, bric-a-brac, books, jewellery and CDs.

The shop also needs volunteers to run it from Monday to Saturday. Manager Vivien Foffe said: "No experience is necessary and days and times can be found to suit individual requirements."

The St Leonards shop is one of 160 nationwide contributing more than 2millions last year towards the cost of the PDSA veterinary services.
