Pett Methodist Chapel: Also at the Parish Council meeting, reported on last week, the minister at the Chapel, Ian Pruden, offered the Chapel as a home for Pett Post Office. The Council Chairman, Andrew Dunlop, warmly welcomed this news and talks will be held as soon as possible. Members of the Chapel are making plans to carry out a refurbishment of the toilets. They are in the process of applying for grants but need to raise money themselves. So, if you need any scrap metal removed from your home or garden, they would be very happy to come and collect it from you. Large items or small, all are very acceptable. Church Services: on Sunday November 9 – Remembrance Day Service led by Frank Rowson, Pett Church at 10:30am; Sunday Service at the Methodist Chapel at 10:45am.

Village Choir: On Monday November 10 the Village Choir will meet again at 7:30pm in Pett Methodist Chapel.

Pett Older People’s Project: On Tuesday November 11 POPP will feature Steve Bennett, who will entertain with guitar, Banjo and ukulele. The session runs from 10:30am to 2:30pm and will include a two-course lunch for just £5.

Pett Gardening Club: At the meeting of Pett Gardening Club, also on Tuesday November 11, Colin Page will talk about ‘Quirks of Nature” Visitors are welcome to come along for £3 to this meeting, which start at 7:30pm at Pett Village Hall.

Mobile Library: On Wednesday November 12 the Mobile Library will be in Pett and Pett Level. It will start at the Church at 10.10am, moving on to Chick Hill at 10:50am and finishing at The Smuggler at 11.20am.

Defibrillator Training: with the help of funds from “Flicks in the Village”, a vital piece of life-saving equipment, an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) has been installed outside the entrance to Pett Village Hall. This equipment can be used by any member of the public to assist a person in cardiac arrest, by providing an electric shock to restart their heart, at no risk to the user. However, whilst no medical training is required, an “information and ‘hands-on’ training” evening has been arranged at Pett Village Hall on Wednesday November 26, advantages of the AED. There will be two, one hour sessions starting at 7.00pm and 8.00pm respectively and each session will include the following topics; Hands only chest compressions, Defibrillator, Assessing the patient, Unconscious patient, Recovery position and Choking. There will be several qualified members from the Rother Responders organisation present to answer any questions and explain how they are actually saving lives in rural communities such as ours. There will also be the opportunity to support a fund raising campaign to help purchase a similar device for Pett Level. If you like to join one of the sessions, there is no charge, no age limit and it will only take 60 minutes of your time.
