Among the items discussed at the meeting of Pett Parish Council held on Tuesday April 15 were the changes to the waste and recycling services from Rother District Council. In a nutshell garden waste will be collected in a new brown bin that will be provided to residents who have opted in to this chargeable service. The existing green bin will be used to collect paper, tins and plastic and will now also take cardboard. Finally glass jars and bottles can now be put in the remaining boxes.

The due date for these changes to start is the end of June but leaflets explaining these changes will start being delivered from the end of April. For more information, please go to the Rother District Council website: www.rother.gov.uk.

Don’t forget the Pett Level Preservation Trust’s Annual General Meeting being held tonight (Friday April 25) at Winchelsea Beach Village Hall, starting at 7pm.

Sunday April 27 – Holy Communion, St Mary & St Peter, Pett at 9:30am led by Richard Barron; Sunday Service at the Methodist Chapel at 10:45am.

On Monday April 28 the Village Choir will meet again at 7:30pm in Pett Methodist Chapel.

POPP on Tuesday April 29 will feature Edinburgh Woolen Mill and Produce stall. The Nail Technician Sheryl Tucker will also be there. The session runs from 10:30am to 2:30pm and will include a two-course lunch for just £5.

On Wednesday April 30 the Mobile Library will be in Pett and Pett Level. It will start at the Church at 10.10am, moving on to Chick Hill at 10:50am and finishing at The Smuggler at 11.20am.

On Thursday May 1 Flicks in the Village will be showing Le Weekend (15). This is a beautifully observed and poignant story of a long-married British couple (Jim Broadbent and Lindsay Duncan), who return to Paris for the first time since their honeymoon to revitalize their marriage. While there, they run into an old friend (Jeff Goldblum) who transforms their thoughts on life and their love for one another. Directed by Roger Michell (Notting Hill), this is a beautifully executed, fearlessly truthful and droll film on the emotional politics of reinvention.

The film starts at 7:30pm with refreshments served from 7pm. Membership forms are available on the night or you can always pop into the Butchers shop in Pett and grab an application form.
