Church Services on Sunday December 8 – Toy Service at 10:45am at Pett Methodist Chapel. Please bring toys to give to needy children.

On Monday December 9 in Pett Methodist Chapel, the Village Choir will meet at 7:30pm. The choir then has several performances to look out for: Tesco’s (Hollington) 10am on December 11, helping raise money for the hospice, followed by Community Carol Singing at St Andrew’s Church, Fairlight at 7:30pm. Then on Saturday December 14, the choir will sing at the Church Christmas Fair at the Pett Village Hall and later that same day they will be at ‘Carols in the Barn’, Pickham Farm, Watermill Lane, Pett, at 6:30pm in aid of Farm Africa.

POPP on Tuesday December 10 will feature Annie Cryer and Tai Chi. The nail technician Sheryl Tucker will also be there. The session runs from 10:30am to 2:30pm and will include a two-course lunch for just £5.

Also on Tuesday December 10 Pett Gardening Club will be holding its Christmas Party at Pett Village hall at 7:30pm. If any members have not already made it known they wish to come, please contact one of the committee to join in the festive fun.

And if that was not enough on December 10, Pett Methodist Church is holding a Film Night when the Christmas Story will be told on screen over two nights, with the story concluding the following week. This will be a great opportunity to reconnect with the real meaning of Christmas. The evening starts at 7pm and refreshments will be served.

The Mobile Library will be in Pett and Pett Level on Wednesday December 11. It will start at the Church at 10.10am, moving on to Chick Hill at 10:50am and finishing at The Smuggler at 11.20am.

Once again this year there will be Carols in the Barn at Pickham Farm, Watermill Lane. It will take place on Saturday December 14 at 6:30pm. The Village Choir will lead the singing so feel free to bring family and friends, particularly the young ones. Enjoy the festive spirit, singing along to all your favourite carols in the cattle shed, plus mulled wine and mince pies in the interval. There will be a collection at the end and all proceeds go to Farm Africa.

Consultation on Waste Targets in East Sussex – The draft East Sussex joint waste strategy proposes new targets, which include limiting household waste generated to 995kgs per household, per year, recycling and composting 50% of household waste by 2020 (rising to 60% by 2025), recovering energy from at least 95% of rubbish that is not reused, recycled or composted and diverting at least 95% of waste from landfill.

East Sussex County Council is also looking at the possibility of setting up a ‘pay as you throw’ system for business waste using the transfer sites in Eastbourne, Maresfield and Pebsham in Hastings, together with closing three household waste sites (Forest Row, Wadhurst and Seaford.
