Well it’s that time of year again! As we move into September we remember the latter half of 1951 when the nation was saddened by the tragic loss with all hands of a small Hull trawler. In response to a national appeal, Reg Cooke, who was Secretary of the Beach Club and also Auxiliary In Charge of the Pett Coastguards, organised a small bring and buy sale. The local Coastguards and regulars of the New Beach Club have continued this tradition ever since with the annual Harvest Home, although now all proceeds go to support the lifeboats in Hastings and Rye.

This year’s event will take place on Saturday September 28 at the New Beach Club, starting at 7pm until all items are sold. Items such as garden produce, bottles of wine, household wares, garden related equipment and ornaments can be donated. They can be left on your doorstep on the morning of September 28, when they will be collected by the Harvest Home volunteers. Your support is always welcome at the event itself and you may even go home with a bargain!
