A meeting of Helping Hands had been arranged for 7:30pm in Pett Village Hall on Tuesday May 24 and Cllr Saint would endeavour to attend.

A memorial bench in memory of Danni Bourne and Kevin Cook had been proposed to replace the existing bench at Hyde Park Corner. The Parish Council subsequently agreed to this in principle.

Many villagers were concerned about speeding and warning stickers on bins would be piloted. Cllr Saint asked if the Parish Council would consider a trial.

Cllr Saint was pleased to confirm that a temporary repair to the road surface on Friars Hill had been completed on May 17. The issue of a permanent repair and the spring under the roadway, which has been causing the damage, was discussed with the ESCC Highway Steward and Cllr Saint was given to understand that this matter has been passed to their drainage team to design and implement a solution before the road receives more permanent patching later in the year. This work will involve constructing a drain / soak-away underneath the road itself and re-directing the excessive water in to the main drainage system at the bottom of the hill.
