Craft Fair: There was a good turn out for the Craft Fair held on Saturday April 25 at Pett Village Hall with full capacity in terms of tables and £330 going to hall funds.

Church Services: On Sunday May 3 – Holy Communion, St Mary & St Peter, Pett at 9:30am, Kay Burnett. Sunday Service at the Methodist Chapel at 10:45am.

Village Choir: On Monday May 4 the Village Choir will meet again at 7:30pm in Pett Methodist Chapel.

Pett Older People’s Project: On Tuesday May 5 POPP will feature Andy Robertson with his keyboard. The session runs from 10:30am to 2pm and will include a two-course lunch for just £5.

Village Coffee Morning: Where can you go and be spoilt by the choice of tempting cakes each month? Not to mention Phil’s famous sausage rolls? The Village Coffee Morning of course!

The next one is Wednesday May 6 from 10am till noon in Pett Village Hall. New faces are always sure of a warm welcome from Sally and her team and if you haven’t been for a while, then come and have a chat – they would love to see you!

Flicks in the Village: on Thursday May 7, as well as it being the date of the General and District Elections, Flicks in the Village will be showing THE IMITATION GAME (12). This film is a nail-biting race against time following Alan Turing (pioneer of modern-day computing and credited with cracking the German Enigma code) and his brilliant team at Britain’s top-secret code-breaking centre, Bletchley Park, during the darkest days of World War II. Turing, whose contributions and genius significantly shortened the war, saving thousands of lives, was the eventual victim of an unenlightened British establishment, but his work and legacy live on.

Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley (both were Oscar and BAFTA nominated) star as Turing and his ally and fellow code-breaker Joan Clarke, alongside a top-notch cast, including Matthew Goode, Mark Strong, Rory Kinnear, Charles Dance, Allen Leech and Matthew Beard.

So why not come along and see this critically acclaimed film? It starts at 7:30pm with refreshments served from 7pm. Membership forms are available on the night or you can always pop into the Butchers shop in Pett and grab an application form.

Christian Aid Week: Christian Aid Week runs from May 10 to 16 and as usual Pett and Pett Level will be making a significant contribution, starting with a fund raising Coffee Morning on Saturday May 9, from 10am to 12noon at Paxstead, Pett Road. There will be plants, cakes, bring & buy and a raffle as well as the sale of Traidcraft goods.

There will be a special Christian Aid service on Sunday May 10 together with a limited house-to-house collection. Age and health issues have affected several collectors and it has become increasingly easy and convenient for people to donate online or by phone.

Pett Village Hall Committee: On Monday May 11 Pett Village Hall Management Committee is holding its AGM at 7:30pm in Pett Village Hall. The PVHMC invite all residents and hall users to the AGM and join them for refreshments after the meeting. Are you a hall user? Then come along and provide valuable feedback to the Committee.
