Pett and Pett Level

Pett WI: Members were delighted to welcome Sally Watson from Hearing Dogs together with Kei and Meg and their owners. Sally and her colleagues explained the problems that arise when hearing is lost and the very significant difference that dogs such as Kei and Meg had made to their lives. The meeting was a great success with more than £100 being raised for Hearing Dogs, which will be used to sponsor a puppy.

Friends of Pett Level Preservation Trust: Don’t forget the Trust’s Annual Meeting will take place at Pett Village Hall on Friday April 24, at 7pm. All Friends are especially invited but members of the public are also very welcome.

Craft Fair: Don’t forget the Craft Fair that is being held in Pett Village Hall on Saturday April 25 from 10am to 3pm.

Church Services: On Sunday April 26 – Holy Communion, St Mary & St Peter, Pett at 9:30am, Richard Barron. Sunday Service at the Methodist Chapel at 10:45am.

Village Choir: On Monday April 27 the Village Choir will meet again at 7:30pm in Pett Methodist Chapel.

Pett Older People’s Project: On Tuesday April 28 POPP will feature Tai Chi with Annie Cryer. The session runs from 10:30am to 2pm and will include a two-course lunch for just £5.

Mobile Library: The next visit will be on Tuesday April 28 when it will stop outside Pett Church from 12:05pm until 12:35pm.

Annual Cycle Ride: Pett Level Rescue Boat Association has again joined forces with the Coastguard to run this year’s annual sponsored Cycle Ride which will take place on Sunday May 10 2015. Start time between 8.30-10.30 hours.

There will be the regular 30-mile round trip and a 15-mile course for those seeking a more leisurely ride or to cycle with youngsters. Both courses will start and finish at The Coastguard Station at Rye Harbour.

As in previous years the aim has been to raise as much money as possible for charity including Pett Level Rescue Boat, St Michael’s Hospice and the Coastguard Association. If you want to join the ride without raising sponsorship, this is fine; all you need to pay is the entry fee, which is only £5 and children under 16 go free but must be accompanied by an adult. Complementary refreshments are served at the checkpoints en-route and there will even be a welcoming cup of tea at the finish.

This is a fun event, which always attracts a good turnout, whether it is keen cyclists or those who want to get a bit of exercise and to raise funds for good causes.
