Craft Fair: There was a good turn out for the Craft Fair held on Saturday November 22 at Pett Village Hall with full capacity in terms of tables and £360 going to hall funds.

Defibrillator Training: With thanks due to both Flicks in the Village (who contributed to the defibrillator) and Pett Village Hall (providing the venue), around 30 people in total attended these training sessions on November 26. The training was given by Rother Responders and those attending learnt how to operate the new defibrillator as well as how to administer CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation). The key message was that in the first instance, if the defibrillator was needed, users had to dial 999 to get the code to the key safe, ensuring that the ambulance would always be on its way. There are plans to have another defibrillator at Pett Level, and again the necessary training will be arranged.

Church Services: on Sunday December 7 – Holy Communion, Pett Church at 9:30am; Sunday Service at the Methodist Chapel at 10:45am. Also on Sunday December 7 at the Methodist Chapel, there will be and Advent Taize Service. This is a contemplative service of music and prayer, largely candle lit, which starts at 6pm.

Village Choir: On Monday December 8 the Village Choir will meet again at 7:30pm in Pett Methodist Chapel.

Pett Older People’s Project: Please note that there will be no POPP meeting at Pett Village Hall on Tuesday December 9 as the group is going to the Grand Hotel, Folkestone for Christmas Lunch.

Pett Gardening Club: Members will be holding their Christmas party at Pett Village Hall on Tuesday December 9 from 7pm.

Mobile Library: On Wednesday December 10 the Mobile Library will be in Pett and Pett Level. It will start at the Church at 10.10am, moving on to Chick Hill at 10:50am and finishing at The Smuggler at 11.20am.

Pett Parish Council: Also on Wednesday December 10 Pett Parish Council will meet in Pett Village Hall at 7:30pm.

The Warship Anne: In July 1690 the Battle of Beachy Head took place and The Anne was run ashore at Pett Level and burnt by Captain John Tyrrell to prevent capture by the French fleet who were in pursuit. On Friday December 12 The Anne will be resurrected at the New Beach Club, Pett Level. In an exciting joint venture the Human Interface Technologies Team of the University of Birmingham have used advances simulation technology to develop a Virtual Reality Model of The Anne for the Shipwreck Museum, Hastings, the owners of the wreck. Come and join Professor Bob Stone and his team at the New Beach Club. They will be talking about this project and demonstrating the technologies that they have used. Admission is free and open to both members and non-members so why not come along to this fascinating event?

Christmas Fair: On Saturday December 13 Friends of Pett Church will be holding their annual Christmas Fair at Pett Village Hall from 10am to 12 noon. There will be stalls, crafts, Christmas goodies, raffles and refreshments, games and much more. And if that was not enough, the Village Choir will be there singing carols!
