Church Services on Sunday April 15 – the Book of Common Prayer Holy Communion Service, St Nicholas, Pett Level at 8:00am with Kay Burnett; Sunday Service at the Methodist Chapel at 11:00am.

POPPs on Tuesday April 17 will feature Tai Chi with Annie Cryer. The session runs from 10:30am to 2:30pm and will include a two-course lunch for just £5.

Also on Tuesday April 17 Pett Parish Council will meet in Pett Village Hall at 7:30pm. This will be the Annual Parish Meeting and will feature the Chairman’s Annual Report as well as Public Time.

The Mobile Library will be in Pett and Pett Level on Wednesday April 18. It will start at the Church at 10.10am, moving on to Chick Hill at 10:50am and finishing at The Smuggler at 11.20am.

On Friday April 20 the speaker at the Pett W.I. meeting will be Mr Hoad with a talk entitled ‘A Jewel in Europe’. The meeting starts at 2:30pm in Pett Village Hall. If you have not tried the W.I. before, do come along for an interesting afternoon and a delicious tea.

Also on Friday April 20 Pett Naturalists will be holding their last meeting of the season at 7:30pm in Pett Village Hall. After the AGM, which lasts about 10 minutes, the speaker will be John Goodman with a talk about ‘Animals in My Life’. This will not be a talk about cats, dogs and budgies as John ran RSPCA Mallydams, the wild animal rescue centre for many years. Visitors are welcome at £2 each and the new season will start in September.

There will be a POPP fund raising Open Day on Saturday May 5 at Pett Village Hall. Attractions will include tombola, kurling, Lucky Dip and face painting as well as a variety of tables selling produce, cakes and arts and crafts. In addition there will be a coconut shy, a White Elephant stall and a raffle. There will be a special guest visit from Amber Rudd MP and the event will run from 10am to 5pm. Tables are available for just £5 each and can be booked by phoning Sally on 01424 813101. Also if anyone can donate tombola gifts and raffle prizes, etc. they will be most appreciated. A collection box is now in the Post Office or can be delivered to Ambleside, Pett Road, 01424 815224.

Sadly, the ‘Party for Parkinsons’ charity evening that was to be held on Saturday April 28 at Pett Village Hall has now been cancelled due to lack of support.
