Pett village voice

There was a good turnout for Flicks in the Village on Thursday March 1, when Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy was shown. In view of the increase in numbers in recent months and the addition of two new members to the team of volunteers, it has been decided to continue with the monthly film shows.

The future programme includes, My Week with Marilyn, The Iron lady and The Artist and Flicks in the Village will be celebrating its 10th anniversary in September this year.

Church Services on Sunday March 11– Morning Worship, St Mary & St Peter, Pett at 9:30am led by Meriel Deasy; Sunday Service at the Methodist Chapel at 10:45am.

The Village Choir will meet again on Monday March 12 at 7:30pm in Pett Methodist Chapel.

At POPP on Tuesday March 13 there will be Tai Chi with Annie Cryer. POPP runs from 10:30am to 2:30pm.

At the meeting of Pett Gardening Club on Tuesday March 13 Capability Chris (Chris O’Donoghue) will talk about garden design. This will be an opportunity to hear from someone who has been involved in designing gardens at the Chelsea Flower Show. It is also a chance to ask all those questions you have always wondered about when visiting Chelsea or watching it on TV.

For those who missed doing so at the first meeting, they will be able to pay their subscriptions prior to the meeting - £6 for the year or £2 for each meeting.

On Friday March 16 the speaker at the Pett W.I. meeting will be Miss T Hobbs, talking about ‘Three Months at Ballymaloe Cookery School’. The school is Ireland’s foremost cookery school, based in a 100-acre organic farm. The meeting starts at 2:30pm in Pett Village Hall. If you have not tried the W.I. before, do come along for an interesting afternoon and a delicious tea.

Also on Friday March 16 Pett Naturalists will be holding their monthly meeting at 7:30pm in Pett Village Hall. The speaker will be Melvin Smith, a true countryman and a first rate photographer. His talk is titled ‘Galway Bay and the Aran Islands’ and is believed to be the first time the Society has had a talk about the west coast of Ireland. Visitors are welcome at just £2 admission.

The Friends of Pett Churches will be holding a Jumble sale in Pett Village Hall on Saturday March 17 from 1:30 to 3pm. Jumble may be brought to the hall any time after 9am but no furniture or electrical goods, please. Also needed are homemade cakes and prizes for the raffle. All proceeds will be used to maintain the fabric of the church.
