Phone lines and broadband still down in Southwater

Phone lines and broadband in a road in Southwater have not been working for nearly four weeks.

Eighteen properties in Shipley Road lost their broadband and phone lines on January 28 due to damage caused to cables during underground maintenance works.

BT said the cables would be fixed by the end of this week but due to further damage being discovered, the estimated date for repair has been delayed further.

A BT spokesman said an estimated date of completion would not be available until the end of next week.

He said: “Unfortunately whilst working through the repairs we have discovered further points of damage which has meant delays.

“60 metres of ductwork is now required with its associated cable, and work will need to be carried out under traffic management.

“We will do all we can to complete as early as possible and will have a clearer picture by the end of next week.

“Seven faults are still outstanding until this is complete.

People should check with their respective service providers with regards to questions on compensation.”
