Phone Shop Raid

The robber used a knife to threaten staff at the Phone Zone shop in High Street, before fleeing with a haul of cash and mobile phone top-up vouchers.

One of the town centre CCTV cameras, installed a year ago this month, is about 20 yards from the shop, at the junction with East Street.

And police have been able to issue a detailed description.

He was 5ft 3in tall, white, average build, aged about 35 and spoke with a local accent. He was wearing a black, padded jacked and black, woolly hat, with dark, wavy hair hanging out below his hat.

The man had a black, goatee beard, with stubble on his cheeks.

Any witnesses in the area at around 3pm on Friday, or anyone recognising the man's description, should telephone the police on 0845 60 70 999.
