The Burning of the Clocks is an annual event with around 2,000 participants carrying lanterns and lights through the city, and thousands more lining the streets as spectators.

The parade started at New Road at 6.30pm, travelled up North Street, through The Lanes and to the seafront, where a bonfire and fire show took place.

The event is organised by charity Same Sky, which fundraises for the lantern parade through bucket collections on the night for the following year's event, and through crowdfunding.
