Hundreds of enthusiastic supporters attended Firle’s Bonfire Night on Saturday, October 24.
The evening started with a Remembrance Procession to the War Memorial where Lord Gage laid the Bonfire Society’s wreath and the Vicar, Peter Owen-Jones, gave a moving address before a minute’s silence was observed.
Torchlit processions then wound their way through the village with costumed members of the Bonfire Society being lead by the Eastbourne Pipe Band.
After the processions, the bonfire was lit and the evening concluded with a spectacular firework display.
This year’s ‘Grand Tableau’ was entitled “To Blow Or Not To Blow” and was an enigmatic construction featuring a number of topical symbols from which viewers were invited to draw their own conclusions.
During the evening, a street collection was taken for the bonfire society’s chosen cause, the Children With Cancer Fund.
