PICTURE GALLERY: Thousands turn out to watch Lewes Regatta finale

Thousands of people lined the banks of the River Ouse on Sunday (July 19) as the Lewes Regatta reached a thrilling finale.

The sun beamed down as crowds pelted eggs, flour and water bombs at those who were taking part in the annual event.

Twenty-one handmade rafts, 20 canoes, 20 boats and four Bonfire Societies took to the water to battle it out for specially-commissioned trophies, made to mark the 40th anniversary of the charity raft race.
