Bexhill was packed on Friday (December 2) as the Christmas lights switch-on and party was held.

A variety of dancers, musicians and entertainers entertained the crowds, who turned out to enjoy the festive extravaganza in Devonshire Road, which kicked off at 4pm.

The decorations on the Christmas tree in Devonshire Square were turned on by a host of special guests at 6pm.

Shops across the town centre stayed open until open late and many laid on their own attractions for residents and visitors, including Santa’s grottos and entertainment.

The event was organised by Shining Lights.

Singer Hannah Martin kicked off the night at 4pm with a range of Christmas songs, before St Mary’s Special School and College students performed.

Other entertainers included freestyle dancer Jules Phillips, a theatre performance and dancers from the East Sussex School of Performing Arts.
