PICTURES: Crowds flock to lights parade

The annual Adur Sea of Lights parade and lantern making celebrations took place over the weekend.

On Saturday (November 26), scores of people turned up to a free lantern-making class held in Lancing Parish Hall, in South Street, Lancing, which started at midday.

Thousands of people turned up for the parade, which started outside the co-operative store, in North Road, Lancing, at 4.30pm.

Creative director Andrea Ballance said: “The whole day was absolutely amazing. I was completely overwhelmed by it all. I had suspected that this year would have been slightly smaller than the years before but it was much the same size. It was an amazing experience for us organisers to see so manu people turn out.”

The event was attended by a number of respresentatives from local groups, including Celebration Samba, Skul Drumery, SK Dance and many more.

They were joined by youngsters from schools including the Sir Robert Woodard Academy, The Globe Primary Academy, North Lancing Primary and Seaside Primary in Lancing, and Sompting Village Primary.

Andrea added: “I have no idea how many people were there because people joined the parade and some left half way through. I reckon it was someone between 1,500 and 1,800, though. There were loads of people at the parade.

“The lantern making was heaving and it was very beautiful. It was very well packed out and it was great to see the dads get so involved and help out their children. They were my favourite.
