Daffodils were obviously the highlight of the occasion, with every class packed with excellent exhibits.

The only person who was not thrilled was the judge, who admitted she had a particularly hard choice.

There was a table full of hellebores, including a very dark one, which is unusual. Camellias were exceptional, with several pale cream and white ones being shown, as for once they had not been touched by frost.

The spring flowers were pretty and with many varieties and the orchids were perfect.

In the vegetable class, there were onions, spinach, calabrese and two trios of leeks, one of which won, and the handicraft classes were no less well supported.

Chairman Louise Buchanan said she was delighted by the support and the number of exhibitors, both members and non-members, who were showing for the first time.
