Victims of genocide from around the world were remembered in Hastings today.

Hastings Borough Council hosted its annual Holocaust Memorial Day service from 11am at St Mary in the Castle.

Speaking before the event, organiser Brian Linke said: “The Holocaust Memorial Service is an opportunity for everyone to take the time to commemorate the Holocaust, Nazi persecution, and subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.

“By remembering those who suffered, we learn the lessons of the past and challenge ourselves to work to end discrimination and hatred.”
