PICTURES: Playground opening at Arundel Church of England Primary School

PIRATES and mermaids have celebrated the opening of a new active learning playground.

Children from Arundel Church of England Primary School were treated to a tour of the new play area by schools minister Nick , who is also the MP for neighbouring Bognor Regis and Littlehampton.

The school’s parents’ association, FACES, raised more than £10,000 over the course of the year to help fund the new playground.

Head teacher Andrew Simpson said: “This was an aspect of the school we determined we needed to improve upon.

“I feel that we often learn best by simply doing.

“Now the children can do exactly that with this purpose-built playground.”
