PICTURES: WW2 device detonated in controlled explosion
An unexploded WW2 device was detonated in a controlled explosion at about 3.45pm yesterday as works continue on the Rampion offshore wind farm.
Two devices were discoverd along the offshore cable route for the Rampion project during surveys carried out as protocol during offshore construction.
Thought to date from the WW2, the explosives were located on the seabed, 3km off Lancing Beach at a depth of 13m.
Wind farm owner E.ON expects the second device to be disposed of today.
