Picturing the Past

IT must have been the most stirring of sights (see picture) as the crowds rallied to the nation's cause in the dark days of war.

For this month's Picturing The Past feature, with the help of the rich treasury of local history images stored at Worthing Library, we focus on Worthing town centre. And county local studies librarian Martin Hayes has produced some rare treasures for us '“ among them this fine image of wartime fundraising in South Street in 1940.
