STAYING YOUNG: To keep young and alert, one should always be looking for new things to do and learn. Even as one ages and can no longer physically run a 100 yards, one’s brain can still do the running for you. Do something you have never done before. Learn a new language, take up carpentry, write a story, play a musical instrument or embark on computer studies. This way one can never become bored or lethargic. Who told me all this? My husband’s 96 year old grandfather who was still driving a car and playing the violin in an orchestra.

SPRING: Spring is with us, at last. It’s been a strange winter season. Many plants which should have died down have been in flower all through. Others such as a damson tree, came into blossom at the beginning of March when alas, there were no insects to facilitate pollination. Quagmires of mud in rain-drenched fields are starting to dry again and it is no longer like struggling on a trench war battle field. Let the sun shine on.
