Piping In Christmas Lights

Three pipers and three drummers from 1066 Pipes & Drums played outside a house in Stonegate when a representative of the British Heart Foundation switched on Christmas lights.

Trevor Clark, brother-in-law of Piper Tricia Drawbridge of Marlpits Lane in Ninfield, has raised money this way for BHF for several years now.

Last year he totalled more than 1,100, and was presented with a BHF award in recognition of all his efforts.

Tricia said: "The Band members go along to add a splash of colour to the event which this year attracted some three hundred people.

"Trevor's collecting box will be outside the house until early January (but emptied regularly throughout the day), but on Sunday alone, he collected just over 600.

"Last year several sets of lights were stolen from the garden and in the past the collecting box has been taken. Let us hope that this year will not be similarly marred."
