The owner of a pizza shop in Worthing has been told it may be six months before his shop re-opens, following an incident where a car collided with the side of his shop.

James Norris, who owns the Pizzarelli takeaway in Broadwater Street West, was told significant repairs had to be made to the shop, including repairs to the wall, and scaffolding in the roof.

Police said they were called to the shop last month after a silver car was reported to have left the road and mounted the pavement, before colliding with the corner of the takeaway, next to The Broadwater pub.

Mr Norris said: “We were in the shop when it happened, I was there with a chef and we are just thankful no one was hurt. It could be four to six months.

“I only have two shops but when the car went into the shop we had only been open six months in this one. What we will have to do now is just focus on our other shop in Hastings. So we have got that and we might try and find another shop, and then we will see.

“My only issue is we will miss Euro 2016 when it is a great time to order pizza!”
