Planning refused at Osbern Close

A PLANNING application for the erection of a large detached dwelling at 27, Osbern Close has been refused by Rother District Councillors.

The outline planning application proposed the subdivision of the rear garden at 27, Osbern Close and access was the only matter to be determined at Rother's monthly planning meeting.

The proposed dwelling would be sandwiched between 27 Osbern Close and the adjacent property known as The Lodge.

Taking into consideration five letters of objection, which raised issues that included; loss of privacy for existing and the proposed occupiers; 'backland' form of development out of character with the area; unsuitable access detrimental to the amenities of the existing dwellings; only 16m from the neighbouring conservatory at The Lodge, councillors refused the application as an 'unacceptable plot by virtue of access', which would affect all neighbouring properties.

Access to the proposed dwelling would have been via an existing drive which currently serves numbers 25 and 27 Osbern Close.
