The developer of King’s House on Grand Avenue, Hove, said it wants to bring the 1870s building ‘back to its original residential use’.

The Grade-II listed building was bought by Mortar Nova Grand Avenue from Brighton and Hove City Council in October for £26 million.

Alan Coleman, co-director of Mortar Nova Grand Avenue, said: “We have brought together a project team of superb local companies, including architects Crowther Associates, to develop designs that will restore the grandeur of King’s House when it was first built and create quality new buildings that will enhance the townscape in this important location in Hove.

“We invite local people to come and see our plans at the Cornerstone Community Centre and we very much look forward to hearing their views and ideas for this exciting project.”

The plans will see the old King’s House building retained, with its 1980s extension and car park replaced with two new buildings.

The developer said it is seeking residents’ views and ideas on the plans, as well as uses for £15,000 it had set aside for projects to benefit people in Hove.

The public exhibition will run from 6pm to 9.30pm tonight (Friday) and 10am to 4pm tomorrow (Saturday) at Cornerstone Community Centre, on the corner of Church Road and First Avenue in Hove.
