Plans for 450 Fontwell homes to go on show

DETAILS of a Fontwell development including up to 450 homes are set to go on display today (Wednesday, December 10).

Developer Dandara also wants to build a headquarters building for an established local employer as part of its scheme.

Community facilities including a hall and a village green are also part of the development.

The exhibition about the proposals can be viewed from 4pm-8pm today at Fontwell Park Racecourse.

Arun District Council has identified Fontwell as an area suitable for providing housing in the next 15 years.

Rachel Allwood, Dandara’s planning director, said: “We are pleased the district council has recognised the potential of Fontwell to help meet local housing need in the draft local plan,” she said.

“We believe our site in Fontwell is ideally located to provide new community facilities alongside much-needed housing.

“Our proposals also include purpose-built employment space.

“We are at an early stage in the development process and would like as many local people as possible to come along and speak to the project team and give us their thoughts.”

Dandara first consulted on the potential of the site to the east of Fontwell Avenue to accommodate development last March.

The firm has reviewed the feedback from the events and has produced its proposals in response.

The exhibition will give people the chance to learn more about the draft proposals and ask questions about them.

Arun’s local plan will guide land use in the district until 2029.

Its draft version has been published ready for an enquiry next year.
