Plans for 700-home estate go on show

Latest plans for a 700-home estate in Felpham are going on view from next Tuesday.

The proposals by Southampton firms David Wilson Homes and Barratt Homes will be on display between 1pm and 8pm at St Mary's Centre in Grassmere Close.

Residents will be able to comment on the up-the-date proposals for the large development on 133 acres of countryside north of the current housing.

They will also be able to see how the companies have responded to the feedback from their original exhibition five weeks ago.

Hundreds of people poured into the building to view the displays.

The proposed development benefits from outline planning consent given by the government.

This latest exhibition is being held before the developers submit planning applications to cover the detailed aspects of the proposals. These include the design of the housing and its layout.

A spokesperson for Barratt Homes Southampton said: 'We are very keen for the local community to have another opportunity to view the plans for the proposed development before a planning application is submitted.

'There was great interest in the plans at the initial exhibition and we would like to demonstrate how we have responded to the comments made, as well as providing more detailed information on the proposals.'
