A plaque was unveiled in Willingdon on Tuesday (November 11) to commemorate the centenary of the First World War.

The plaque which was unveiled at Willingdon Library by Willingdon and Jevington Parish Council Chairman John Pritchett, was designed to remember men and woman who took part in the war from the parish.

Attending the service was Father Kevin Agnew, Reverend David Yule, other members of the parish council and residents.

A spokeswoman for the parish council said: “The plaque will be placed temporarily in the parish office but will be placed on the wall of what we hope will be our new council office at Jubilee Gardens, the Triangle in due course.”
