A spokesman said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for aspiring musicians to be involved in the enrichment of the local music scene, and to leave their footprint on the vibrant musical history of Hastings - one of love and tragedy, originally opened in 1872 it’s had many lives, including an iconic period in the 1960s where the pier quickly became of the most important venues on the touring circuit, playing host to The Clash, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Nico, Siouxsie and the Banshees as well as the location of Syd Barrett’s last ever show with Pink Floyd.

“The weekend hopes to encourage a re-igniting of community collaboration, and presence on the musical map for Hastings, and in the spirit of such, local artists will be voted for by the residents of Hastings themselves.

“To submit an act, anyone living in the Hastings area can put their chosen artist forward. The bands with the highest number of submissions for entry will be our winners (there will be a winner for each day).

Artists from outside of Hastings will be disregarded – this is a real community event aimed at supporting local talent.
