Tomorrow, Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th September you are invited to the Open House of Richard Adams and Jane Beecham to view this year’s works, and possibly purchase directly from the artists. They will welcome you at White Cottage, Rectory Lane, Playden,between 11 am and 5 pm. Should you wish to speak to them, the phone number is 01797 22 55 89.

Unfortunately, due to a technical illegality, Playden Parish Council meeting had to be postponed until 19th September at 7.30 pm in the Playden W. I. Hall. Any concerns of parishioners may be raised at the Public session of the meeting. After that, members of the public should not speak except by direct permission of the Chairman.

The Iden and Playden Garden Society will be holding its Autumn Show on Saturday 28th September at 2.30 pm in Iden village Hall. This will be followed by the AGM and presentation of prizes.

The Mobile Library will be visiting Poppyfield on Monday morning from 11.30 until 11.50.

There will be a performance in Playden Church on Thursday 19th September , at 7.30 pm, as part of Rye Arts Festival. On this occasion you will hear Fantasticus, inspired by the gloriously virtuosic music from the end of the 17th century. The aim of the ensemble is to recreate repertoire from the early 17th century until the late baroque. The trio, which is based in Amsterdam, is made up of baroque violin, viola da gamba and harpsichord. Tickets are £15 available from the box office, c/o Phillips and Stubbs, 47/49 Cinque Ports Street, Rye, telephone 22 44 42. The box office is open from 9.30 am until 1 pm.

On Sunday 15th September there is a chance to go inside Camber Castle and visit the birdwatching hide at Castle Water to see some wetland birds. This is arranged by the Rye Harbour Nature Reserve staff. Meet at Brede Lock at 10 am, returning about 1 pm with a walk of 2.5.miles. Donations would be appreciated.

The mid-week services in St. Michael’s Church continue on Tuesday at 9.30 am for Morning Prayer and 3.30 pm for Evening Prayer.

The 11 am service on Sunday, 16th after Trinity, will be Parish Communion led by the Vicar, Rev. Teresa Munro.
