Playden

Marion Lovell, Abingworth, New England Lane

Today is St. Andrew’s day so look out for the Saltire, the blue and white flags. I wonder if they will devolve?

We are in the lull before all the pre-Christmas activities go galloping along.

Playden will be sending The Travelling Crib on its way on Sunday morning.

The Friends of Playden Church thoroughly enjoyed the Murder Mystery evening last Saturday. The W. I. Hall was crowded with amateur sleuths keen to solve the crime. I cannot reveal ‘Who Dun It’ because a second performance is scheduled in another village. There was also a table quiz, all related to detectives, and by sheer coincidence, the table which solved the crime was the same one which won the table quiz. They must all have brought extra brain cells with them on Saturday!!

A superb, tasty supper was prepared by Viv and everyone agreed that it was very good.

It was a merry evening and a good community event.

The next thing planned by Friends is to be on 23 February 2013. Make a note in your new diaries and be sure to come along. We really do have FUN!

The Walking Bus was an extremely successful venture. It took a mere 10 minutes to walk from the W. I. Hall to school. It is hoped to repeat the exercise in the spring. Thanks to the parents who got the initiative off the ground and to those who walked with the children.

Congratulations to Bella, Ollie, Kai, James, Evelyn and Eva who represented the Rye area primary schools cluster and came a very respectable 3rd place out of seven in the recent athletics competition.
